Trees on the Increase?!

During the month of February 2017, the Department of Curriculum Management, in collaboration with Nature Trust-FEE Malta , through its LEAF (Learning about Forests) programme and the Xrobb l-Għaġin Education Programme once again organized a series of hands on sessions for early years. The sessions were held in the picnic areas and the surrounding garrigue at the Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park & Centre for Sustainable Development.

The event which was open to Kindergarten and Primary years was organised for the fourth consecutive year following the positive response from previous years. Apart from seed sowing sessions, students were actively engaged in forest trail games, indigenous fauna identification, animal awareness role plays, tree identification exercises, tree benefit awareness games, songs and story-telling thanks to the support of the National Literacy Agency. The tailor made sessions were intended to maximise on the outdoor learning experience of these young learners.
